I know, I know…

I have been terrible about writing lately. As I’ve said before, it’s always easier for me to write when things are going badly and I’m upset about something than when things are great. And right now, life is great.

The last month, in a nutshell:

I went to Minnesota at the beginning of December and had a wonderful time seeing friends and going to the wedding and visiting old places that I love and miss. It was really cold and snowed a couple times (so beautiful!) and by then end of the week I was ready to go home. I was anxious to get back and see Marcus so I drove in one shot, 18 hours, and only got a little delirious the last 50 miles. Oh, road trips.

Work is going fine. It’s pretty slow but I don’t mind so much. I haven’t been reading very much, unfortunately but I play a lot of Sudoku.

Thanksgiving and Christmas were both very low key holidays this year (just as New Years will be). They kind of came and went without too much to-do. It was nice to have the days off. Marcus and I cooked lots of delicious breakfast and some good soup and just lots of good food in general. Mmm mm m. He bought me a couple very lovely things such as a pair of jeans and a sherpa hoodie (the most comfortable sweatshirt in the world) and a couple cookbooks. He is so darn sweet to me. I was pretty much totally broke this year so I wasn’t able to get anyone anything :(

I have not been very un-culinarily (that’s not a word) creative lately. I sewed some stockings for Marcus and I and am hand quilting that quilt but that’s about all. I need inspiration again.

As I am every year, I am wondering what this new year will bring. This one, strangely enough, ended up pretty much exactly how I wanted it to just everything in between was a little wonky. I am so much happier where I am right now.

  1. I am a little jealous of all your travels. You always make it sound so exciting and wonderful to see the country. I wish I could give myself permission to take time out and travel around.

PS-Your photographs are always amazing, whether they are of Washington DC or cookies!
