I have the next three days off and that feels SO luxurious. Much sewing will take place. I might even make a trip out to Charlottesville to a quilt shop. We’ll see. Tonight I am meeting the aforementioned Heidi to knit at Pops. She was so excited when I asked her if she knitted at wanted to do it with me and I’m pretty excited too. I have the blanket still going, a cowl, and a pair of mittens. And I want to start a teapot cozy. Yay, craftiness.
I had a great time with my dad and brother. It was a good length trip although I would have liked another day in DC. They chose the perfect two days to come visit, it was incessantly rainy and cold until the last evening. Today it was 70 and sunny :-/ But it was alright, we took a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, went to the O. Winston Link Museum here in town which is actually really awesome, ate at a yummy restaurant downtown called Tony Pope’s Le Bistro where my friend Heidi works, and watched “Boondock Saints” on our new tv. We drove up to DC on Friday and stayed at a swanky hotel called Capitol Hill Suites and had Thai food around the corner. We toured the Capitol which was interesting and briefly went into the newly renovated American History Museum. All we had time to see was the Transportation exhibit and the cafeteria but I hope to go back and look around more.I took them back to the airport and took the opportunity to go to the Artful Quilter, one of my favorite fabric stores. I have inadvertently started to have a Sunday Stash blog post here which is exciting. I don’t think it will last long but its still fun. The lady at the shop remembered me, surprisingly, and admired some of my fabric choices. They had so many things I wanted to buy and there are so many projects I want to start but I held back as best I could.
You only get to see these stacked because they’re for a specific quilt for a specific person and I don’t want to ruin the surprise in case they happen to read this.
More stash builders. I thought maybe the turquoise geometric fabric and the flowers to it’s left might be for another market bag but we’ll see. Everything else just caught my eye and will end up in something wonderful some day.
