365:10, a recipe.

Using an apple I had left over from the amazing hand pies I made for Christmas, and putting my new Corningware dish to use, I made a simple single, serving apple crisp. I had the forethought to write down the ingredients so I could include a simple recipe here. Except for the apple, I always have these ingredients around my house but it’s definitely not a strict recipe.

Apple Crisp for One.
1 apple, I like Pink Lady or Macintosh
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ tablespoon bourbon, optional
1 tablespoon flour
¼ teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup oats
¼ cup brown sugar (or more for extra tart apples)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of cardamom
2 tablespoons butter
optional: 1 tablespoon flax seeds
1 tablespoon oat bran

Chop the apples and toss with other filling ingredients, pour into baking dish. Mix oats, sugar and spices (same bowl is fine) until combined. I melted the butter and mixed it in but if you want it more crumbly, cut cold butter into dry mixture. Pour over apples and bake at 350º for 40 – 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool briefly. Serve warm, maybe with some vanilla bean ice cream. Yum!
