Reading and listening, #4.

I finally finished “Les Miserables” last night, sitting in my car in a parking lot, making myself late for drinks with friends. It had taken me too long to get through the 1,463 pages to not be thrilled about and finish the last five of them. I’ve mentioned it before but I had sort of accidentally read the abridged version last year and loved it enough to want to read the whole version (which is about 4½ times longer), and it was definitely, totally worth it.

To figure out my next book, I flipped a coin. It was between two Thomas Hardy novels, either “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” or “Jude the Obscure” and “Tess…” won (which I like because it was written first). I have started reading it and haven’t gotten to anything juicy yet but a mere 390 pages will be a walk in the park.

The new Radiohead album came out yesterday, “The King of Limbs.” Philip and I listened to it once at work today and my first reaction is that I like it. I imagine that many more listens will come.

  1. It is such a good book! I can't imagine cramming that whole story into a couple hours but it's definitely something I'd like to watch :)
