Snack mats!

Inspired by Mug Rug Madness over on Two More Seconds last week, I have been a snack mat making fool! Well, maybe not a fool, but I’ve had some fun. I have joined with Jenny of BettyCrockerAss (and her friend Megan who started it) in calling them snack mats instead of mug rug but no matter what you call it, they are generally quick to make and you end up with something useful which is makes it more satisfying.

I started with the houndstooth pattern (bottom right at 6¾” x 9″) which included my first ever relatively successful machine binding! There are some tiny houses (top right at 6½” x 11″), an autumn colored zig zag (far left at 6¼” x 8¼”), and a double hourglass (7¼” x 10½”). I love all of them but I don’t really know what I’m going to do with them, either. Sell them at the craft faire, perhaps? You can see more pictures on my Flickr.

  1. Beautiful! I tried to find the houndstooth in your FLICKR but didn't see it. Is it a modified double hourglass? Where did you find the pattern, or did you modify the hourglass?

  2. You're right, I don't have any pictures of it in my Flickr for some reason but the blog post is here.

It's a pattern by V&Co that I saw on Pinterest and figured out how to do. I talk about it in the post a little bit.
