She recently completed a really messy, nasty divorce, the kind of divorce no one should ever have to go through. But she’s come out the other side and is better for it, I think. When I decided to cut out my Single Girl quilt I accidentally cut too many of a few pieces and then decided to go with it and make Catherine a (hopefully) meaningful quilt. I asked her what her favorite color was and she said, in all honesty, “puke green.” I tried to find a color like that and while I don’t think I succeeded, Kona cotton in Moss worked out.
Unfortunately, as I sat down to write this post, I realized I never properly photographed it! Next time I go up there I’ll have to make a point of it.The rings are all Denyse Schmidt fabrics and a couple solids. The backing is mostly Katie Jump Rope brown bandana print that I got on clearance at Thimble Pleasures.
It’s quilted on Ursula in a large blowing maple leaf pattern with a variegated brown thread. It was bound in the orange plaid from KJR and I embroidered a label reading “for catherine, a single girl. summer 2011. ♥ kait.” It measures somewhere around 45″ x 65″ and she loved it :)
