This quilt has been gifted and I’m excited to finally show it off here! This stack of Kaffe and Brandon Mably prints have attempted to be a lot of things but this thing finally worked. I had considered making Faith a quilt ever since I learned she was pregnant but when I received her shower invitation in the mail saying the nursery would be lavender and pale green, I knew I had to get to work.
I bought 5 yards of the green dot at JoAnn’s (much more than I needed) and just started cutting, arranging, sewing, rearranging, trimming, and sewing, until I came out with this. And I love it!
I used some pieces I’d already cut long ago for the backing,
quilted it in a swirly pattern I’d never done before, and bound it with more scraps.
They don’t know what they’ll be naming her until she is born so I embroidered a label reading “Little Miss Loofbourrow”.
I’m sad I wasn’t able to make it to the shower (she lives back home in California) but I’m so glad she got the quilt and loves it as much as I do! I can’t wait to see her little one wrapped up in it :)
I do love it and it’s AMAZING!! :) Little Miss Loofbourrow will love all the vibrant and gorgeous colors! Thank you Kait! We love you. xoxox
Holy moly!! I love it! It reminds me of some of the quilts in this book: http://www.amazon.com/Quilting-Line-Color-Techniques-Abstract/dp/1596683333/ref=sr_1_28?ie=UTF8&qid=1315494188&sr=8-28
Only yours seems so much more fun and funky! Did you quilt it yourself or did Ursula do her thing?
Hey Erin! Thanks :) I’ve flipped through that book before, I should look at it again. I loved making this quilt! I did it on my home machine in just a couple hours. The tension was a little off and my stitches aren’t equal length but a good washing covers a multitude of sins.
